Chocolate Chip Cookies

This is the chocolate chip cookie recipe that Mom uses.

2/3 cup shortening
2/3 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla

3 cups flour
1 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
12 oz chocolate chips

Cream butter, shortening, and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla and mix thoroughly.

Stir in remaining ingredients.

Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto cookie sheet.

Bake at 375 for 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown.

Cool slightly before removing from baking sheet.

Makes 7 dozen (Unless you eat a whole bunch of raw dough!)
